Llangennith

Learners

Most consistent surf spot on the Gower. A long sandy beach, surfable on all tides. Good for all levels of surfer especially beginners.

Three Peaks

Intermediate

At the north end of Llangennith beach under Burry Holms island. Works best at high tide.

Rhossilli end

Learners

Under the cliffs of Rhossilli at the south end of Llangennith beach. Works best at high tide on big s. west swells.

Broughton Bay

Intermediate

In view of the caravan site at Broughton. Works only at high tide on big swells. This break can be extremely dangerous with strong rip currents.

Mewslade

Experienced

At Fall Bay end of Mewslade there are two reefs producing short left handers. Works at low tide on big swell with a northerly wind.

The Reefs

Experienced

Various reefs along the coast between Rhossilli and Port Eynon. They work at low tide on small swells. Northerly winds needed.

Horton

Windsurfing: Intermediate

South facing sandy bay at Port Eynon/Horton. Works best at high tide on big swells. Probably Gower's best wind surfing spot with excellent wave jumping conditions on big swells.

Oxwich

Learners

East facing sandy beach that works at high tide on huge s. west swells. Good wind surfing beach for all levels especially beginners.

Caswell

Learners

A very popular sandy beach for beginners. Works best at mid to high tide when Llangennith is too big to surf.

Langland

Learners to Experienced

S.W. facing sandy/rocky beach. Works between low and mid tide when Llangennith is 5' to 6'. The centre of surfing during the winter months it often gets crowded with both beginners and experienced surfers alike. There are three main breaks. Crab Island (experienced), the Reef (Beginners) and the Lefts (intermediate).

Swansea Bay

Beginners windsurfing spot. Strong winds needed.

Aberavon

Learners

Westerly facing sandy break next to the harbour breakwater. Works from mid to about an hour before high tide.

Between the steel works in Port Talbot and Rest Bay in Porthcawl there are a number of beach breaks that work.

Porthcawl

Learners

Rest Bay (Beginner), the most popular beach, is westerly facing and works similar to Llangennith, but a bit smaller. Black Rock (intermediate) a point break that faces south, works on big swells at low to mid tide.

Cefn Sidan

Intermediate

Exposed S.W. facing sandy beach. Works at all stages of the tide.
